These studies can be carried out globally or for a specific country or area, such as the European Union. A study can be narrowed to search for identical trademarks already registered or extended to search for trademarks that could easily be confused with the trademark. In addition, the study can also include Finnish business names as well as surnames entered in the Finnish Population Information System, as these may prevent a trademark from being registered in Finland.
