The work of an IP Assistant in a small office is challenging: you get to do all kinds of things and become acquainted with the IP procedure as a whole – beginning from the filing of an application and ending with the grant of a patent. In this business, teamwork is the key to high quality. While an attorney concentrates on the contents of the application, an assistant takes care of the formalities, down to the smallest details – dotting i’s and crossing t’s – and sees to it that all gets done in time. The tasks of an assistant not only require accuracy but also excellent knowledge of languages. These are qualities I have needed even earlier when working as a translator and interpreter of the Russian and German languages in different companies.
