I am pleased to announce that I am now qualified to act as a Eurasian (EA) design attorney after passing the 2021 Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) examination.
The EAPO design system became effective in June 2021. At present EA designs covers Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan and Belarus will join on 19 April 2022. An EA design is a unified IP right and as such it does not include the option of reducing some of the countries after grant. This is in contrast to EA invention patents which allow this.
The EAPO is currently not a party to the Hague Agreement which can make the filing process a bit challenging for applicants. However, as an EA design attorney I am now available to provide advice and service to Berggren clients that are interested in the EA market.
