Unitary Patent and Unified Patent Court

Date and time: Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. EEST

Venue: Virtual event - join from anywhere!

Join our webinar on 1 June – the very same day that the Unified Patent Court Agreement enters into force – to hear how European patent practice will differ after the UPC sunrise period has ended. We will talk about unitary patents, the continuing possibility to opt-out, and some of the main factors that may influence your decisions about how to handle future European patents and patent applications, as well as other changes that will be relevant earlier in the application process.

The webinar will be presented by Michael Nielsen, UK & European Patent Attorney, European Patent Litigator, and co-ordinator of Berggren’s unitary patent & Unified Patent Court team. Michael has personally handled hundreds of European patent applications in the course of his 10+ year career and is experienced in conducting oral proceedings in examination, opposition, and appeal cases at the European Patent Office. He regularly writes on the topics of the unitary patent, Unified Patent Court, and developments in European patent practice. He is a member of the Professional Education Committee of epi, the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO, which oversees continuing professional education and qualification of European Patent Attorneys, and a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.

This webinar will be held in English.
