Pekka has extensive experience as a patent attorney and he is well versed in conducting patentability searches and investigations. Pekka works efficiently and professionally to achieve the best possible outcome from the client’s perspective. Pekka has handled opposition and appeal proceedings in Finland and at the European Patent Office. Pekka is a member of the thematic subcommittee in the field of Mechanics at the European Patent Practice Committee (EPPC) during the 2018–2020 term. The purpose of the committee is to proactively improve European patent practices. Pekka also teaches the subject in various courses.
Pekka accumulated more than 10 years of experience in academic post-doc research before joining Berggren. Pekka has served as a committee member of the Mechanics Group of the European Patent Institute’s EPPC since 2018.
In 2025, Pekka Heino was selected for the IP STARS Patent Star category, an internationally recognized accolade for distinguished intellectual property professionals.
