Pekka Heino is a European Patent Attorney who has worked in the IPR field since 2009. He serves clients across a broad range of patent and utility model matters, with particular focus on post-grant proceedings such as oppositions, appeals and disputes. He also drafts patent applications and is quick to identify the core of an invention, helping clients secure strong patent protection and, where needed, challenge patents held by others.
Pekka's technical expertise centres on energy technology, mechanical and industrial engineering, mechanical wood processing and industrial manufacturing. Before moving into IPR, he spent many years in academic research, from 1994 to 2009. Pekka also acts as a representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC), extending his expertise into patent litigation and court proceedings. He has served on the EPI's European Patent Practice Committee since 2017 and works as a trainer on CEIPI's basic training course in European patent law.
