Jaakko Mastomäki is a patent agent who has worked in the IPR field since 2023. He helps inventors and innovation-driven companies identify patentable solutions, review competitors' patents and build a working patenting strategy around their findings. His work spans the full process, from drafting and filing patent applications to prosecuting them through to grant.
Jaakko's technical expertise centres on quantum technology, materials technology, optics and mechanics. Before joining Berggren, he worked as a patent engineer at IQM Quantum Computers, researched low-temperature physics and nano- and microfabrication as a doctoral researcher at the University of Jyväskylä, and worked as a production engineer on optical coatings at Millog Oy. This combination of research and industry experience gives him a solid grasp of both the technical substance of an invention and its commercial relevance.
