Sakari Värilä

Sakari leads Berggren´s International Business Unit. He is an experienced and recognized IP expert with a career as a patent attorney spanning over twenty years. He also has significant industry experience, particularly in the telecom sector. Professionally, Sakari has extensive experience prosecuting patent applications including drafting priority applications for his trusted clients. He has participated in many monetization projects involving IP due diligence and conducted numerous patentability and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses. In addition, Sakari has frequently appeared as a professional expert witness and provided opinions in legal proceedings concerning patent infringement or validity. He has also been involved as a patent attorney in various patent litigations and served as an outsourced IPR Manager for international companies.

Sakari holds an M.Sc. in Technology (telecom and signal processing) from the Helsinki University of Technology (HUT). He is a qualified European patent attorney, UPC litigation representative, and a Finnish patent attorney. Sakari is an active member of both domestic and international organizations and served on the Board of the Association of Finnish Patent Attorneys for several years.
