Kirsi Virkki has worked in the IPR field since 2019 and is a European Patent Attorney and UPC Representative at Berggren. She assists clients across the full scope of patent-related matters: assessing patentability, conducting novelty searches, drafting patent applications, and supporting clients through prosecution, opposition and appeal proceedings, as well as patent disputes. Kirsi also advises clients on matters relating to the Unified Patent Court, and her expertise is particularly valuable for the international protection of inventions.
Kirsi has a strong, interdisciplinary research background at the interface of chemistry and physics. Before joining Berggren, she worked as a researcher at university and holds a doctorate in chemistry, specialising in spectroscopy and materials characterisation. She applies this background especially in chemistry, materials technology and manufacturing, as well as in inventions related to the circular economy.
