Katja Mäkelä is a European Patent Attorney who has worked in the IPR field since 2006.
Katja helps clients protect their inventions, with particular focus on biotechnology, mechanical engineering and process engineering, including the pulp and paper industry. Katja handles opposition, appeal cases before the European Patent Office (EPO), and assists clients with the invention evaluation and competitor monitoring.
In addition, Katja works as an outsourced patent engineer within client organizations, collaborating closely with inventors and companies' own IP specialists. Her technical expertise covers life sciences, chemistry and materials, mechanical and equipment engineering, energy technology, the circular economy, and wood and cellulose-based materials.
